    Surrounding Areas
Coronado is an island off of San Diego, connected only by a man-made land bridge known as the Silver Strand (or just the Strand). This small resort town has 19,000 full-time residents. San Diego, on the other hand, is California's second largest city with over 1.3 million people. Nearby communities include Point Loma, Mission Valley, National City, Chula Vista, La Mesa, and Imperial Beach. This area is well-populated and closely situated so these areas are all within 20 minutes of North Island. Unsurprisingly, these coastal cities of southern California are beach-oriented and popular tourist destinations.
